Washington, DC, is infamously one of the most expensive places to live in the US.  Although this is a fantastic place for jobs, shopping, and learning the history of the nation, housing can be as high as twice as expensive as the surrounding rural areas.

If you want to move to the nation’s capital without paying top dollar: these are the most affordable neighborhoods in Washington, DC!

    Adams Morgan

Although this is still expensive when compared to the rest of the nation, finding an apartment for $1,800 isn’t a bad deal in Washington, DC!  The average home price here is $529,000, which is affordable for most two-income households.  This is a great place for young professionals and families since this area is safer than 68% of the other cities within the District of Columbia.  With short transit to get to work or school, living in the Adams Morgan area ensures you never have to worry about running late or chasing traffic.

    Foggy Bottom

The most affordable place to buy a home and the second least affordable place to rent, Foggy Bottom is a favorite of students, singles, and young professionals.  Brownstone buildings are paired with a lot of culture and color in this neighborhood.  This is a great way to feel the cultural melting pot of America in action!

    Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant is one of the best places to find Washington DC apartments for rent at affordable prices!  Safer than almost 80% of the DC area, Mount Pleasant is a favorite among retirees and families.  This area has a classic Americana feeling, with most homes built in the 1950s to 1960s.  The medium home price is $552,000, and the average rent here is $1,593.  If you’re eager to find a space that’s gorgeous to live in, you’ll fall in love with Mount Pleasant.

    Brookland

Why not take a guided tour of some of the best architecture in the area?  In Brookland, there’s so much to do and see that you could never get bored living here.  From the great food at Masala Story, or checking out hip-hop classes at Dance Place, this is a fantastic area for fresh graduates who want to keep themselves entertained and learn about the city as they live here.  Houses here are slightly more affordable, at $437,000, and rent is far more reasonable at $1,062 on average.

    Logan Circle

If you want classic city living in gorgeous brownstones and historic buildings, you’ll love Logan Circle.  The price of homes here is higher, at $538,000, but rent is more manageable than Adams Morgan, with a median monthly rent of $538,670!  There’s a lot to see and do here, and it’s easy to get to everything since Logan Circle is an incredibly walkable and bikeable area with plenty of transit options for residents.

Washington DC is an Incredible Place to Live!

Washington, DC, is one of the best places to live in the country.  Not only is it gorgeous, but the locals love the countless things to do: and the fantastic chances at upward mobility.
